The team is killing it, awesome job everyone! In less than a week we’v e moved to the top 1% of all active f@h teams and there’s no slowing down. We currently have 163 active CPU/GPUs pumping out work units.

One thing is clear... my main personal home desktop really sucks. It was pretty good when new, but now it sucks. It absolutely sucks donkey balls.

And the GeForce GT 640 graphics card it has also sucks... just not as much as systems with integrated graphics.

And the Athon II x4 630 also sucks by todays standards. It even sucks compared to a dual core/4 thread Intel Core I5 laptop I’m also running folding on.

And the 7200rpm 2tb hard drive it has also sucks. The boot up time is shit, particularly compared to my old core i5 laptop I stuck an SSD in that is running Win10

And speaking of OSes, this desktop is running Ubuntu. And I like it less ever since they switched to the Unity environment. I much prefer the look and feel of Xubuntu... which I have running on two laptops that are even older and crappier than my desktop.

And the case sucks too. It does the job, but it’s an old beige case that looks like shit. When the case was new, I think it had a single core Pentium II 233 in it running windows 2000 Pro... and the license sticker for Win2000 pro is still on the case.

I’m thinking of starting an instagram account. But instead of giving the impression of how great my perfect life is and how perfect I look, I’m gonna do a Not-too-serious “my terrible life” thing.

And I’m gonna start it with a picture of my donkey ball sucking desktop

I guess it turns out Oppo likes playing with bits as much as oily bits. Thought of that way, optimizing and leveraging your computing situation feels a lot like tuning up your car in another form.

I have like 6 machines that are CPU only and older generations so they account for maybe 10% of my points but 3/4 of my work units. I turned off a few the day before yesterday but with the gap tightening I wanted that extra 50k PPD they give me so I turned them back on this morning.

I do have a few laptops that aren’t really online right now but they’re Pentium 3s and really old Celerons, not sure if that would help or just end up wasting power, lol.

Oh and my hexacore work MacBook , which I’m using only for VSCode, lol.

To be honest, I'm not entirely certain. I think mine is some kind of a 1060 with 6 gigs of RAM. I don't know what my brother bought. Maybe Radeon something?
